kane profile
Urban Machine is a new and exciting company based in Kommetjie, Cape Town. The company owner, Kane Mitchell has shown interest in skateboarding for most his life, and still has a 5ft half pipe in his garden for himself and his kids to skate on. When first viewing the 'motorised skateboard', Kane realised that they are an unbelievable product that is going to take the world by storm. They are very new in South Africa and are becoming extremely popular in America, Australia and the UK with a wide target market ranging from surfers, skateboarders to thrill and adventure seekers. The boards are great to take away on holidays and even cruise on when taking the dog for a walk for some ultra fitness sessions.

Urban Machine Company have secured exclusive distribution rights for South Africa from the manufacturers and will be selecting some distribution outlets in South Africa to retail these awesome motorized skateboards. UMC will also be selling direct to the public with no minimum order quantities and have on line order facilities on this site.

In a nutshell the skateboards come in two ranges, the 600W 'street board' and the larger 800W 'all-terrain' boards. They are extremely powerful and are powered by an intelligent hi-tech wireless remote which has a three speed setting and an ABS braking system. The remote is just for acceleration and braking, steering is the same as standard skateboards. The skateboards are electronically charged and have the 36V battery pack securely attached to the underside of the board. The 600W boards are belt driven and the 800W are chain driven. The 600W boards have solid rubber tyres and the 800W boards have pneumatic tyres which are inflated up to 35psi, all terrain and handle exceptionally well on tar, gravel and grass. The 600 W board cruises at speeds of up to 25km/h and the 800W reaches up to 32km/h.

There is absolutely nothing like riding these boards. "I take my board every where possible, from cruises down to the beach, meeting some friends for an 'informal race' on the local field, to going camping for the weekend and cruising around the camp sites."

These boards are not for children under the age of 14 and we strongly recommend wearing a helmet and other protective gear at all times. We at UMC do not take any responsibility whatsoever for any injury as a result from using our boards. These boards are fun but one must remember to be sensible at all times and not to attempt to push the boards to their limit as injury can be severe if coming off at high speeds.
